Sexually Assaulted and Horrible Airbnb Experience

Fatima Rahim, 33-year old African American from New York City, is running a hotel out of the small apartment she is renting at Al Retaj Building A Floor 6 Apartment 3, Al Saad, Doha, Qatar.

I was verbally harassed and sexually assaulted by a friend of Fatima’s within 48 hours of my arrival.  I had never met nor seen him before nor since this event, yet I found him in the flat which Fatima had vacated to Abu Dhabi for the first weekend of my stay in April 2015.  This man was one of several questionable characters who seemed to live there, entering the residence as they pleased, as the front door to the flat was left unlocked 24/7; thereby putting my personal safety at risk when I was there and my personal possessions at risk when I was not.

I immediately reported the incident to Fatima upon her return from Abu Dhabi.  While Fatima had initially supported me stating that the perpetrator would never be welcome back to her flat, within 24 hours she was with him in the flat.  The following day, I gave my notice to Fatima, requested a refund (to which she initially agreed) for the days I would not be staying and I left.

Fatima is now refusing to give me a refund.  She has changed the original price of our agreement increasing it by over 50% and is now claiming that I owe her money.  She is also telling me to go to the man who sexually harassed me if I want my money returned.

I am writing not in the hopes of obtaining my rightful funds from a tightfisted person, but to warn anyone wishing to stay with Fatima Rahim in Qatar within Doha that in addition to the environment above, you will also have:

-rancid cigarette smoking

-putrid smells in the kitchen fridge from old food

– Dirty dishes overflowing the sink from numerous late night meals eaten

– No public space in the kitchen, living room or storage areas for food or personal belongings

– No control over the air conditioner in 45 degree C heat (if you turn it on, she will turn it off)

– Noise pollution in four distinct forms.

-Fatima speaking loudly and colloquially on Skype without headphones

-The jackhammer that beats and pounds for 18 hours a day 6 days a week from the construction site 50 meters away from the window

-The minaret blasting the call to prayer every morning at dawn 10 meters away from the window

-Noisy child neighbors.  I might add, whose safety is also at risk in this toxic environment of shady characters

HOSTS BEWARE! AIRBNB’S DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS!

HOSTS BEWARE! AIRBNB’S DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS! LEGAL PROBLEMS: Airbnb has been banned in many cities. Hosts have been sued by the city, and fined thousands of dollars for hosting Airbnb guests. Neighbors and communities are protesting Airbnb hosting.

GUEST PROBLEMS: Airbnb hosts have had their homes totally trashed by guests, property damaged, stolen, requiring police intervention and legal action.

INSURANCE PROBLEMS: Airbnb’s “$1,000,000 host guarantee is a scam!” Airbnb runs hosts through hurdles, only to deny, greatly reduce, or ignore the claims in the end.

HOSTS USED, ABUSED & KICKED TO THE CURB: If a host exercises their right & files claims against guests security deposits due to damage, theft or violations of rules, they are kicked to the curb with no warning. Their listing(s) are deactivated and all bookings cancelled.

COLLATERAL DAMAGE TO GUESTS: When a host is kicked to the curb, so are their guests. Airbnb lies to the guests, telling them it was the host who cancelled their bookings, when in fact, both host and guests are victimized by Airbnb.

AIRBNB’S GREED: Airbnb collects a fee from both ends, the host and the guest. If a booking is cancelled, the only one guaranteed 100% payment is Airbnb.

SELLING YOUR SOUL TO THE DEVIL: For a little bit of money, hosts sacrifice their home, their privacy, their time, their freedom, their lives, and their pocketbook, only to be kicked to the curb by Airbnb after they have used and abused you, and replace you with new unsuspecting hosts that Airbnb pulls into their web of deceit.

Don’t use airbnb airbnb will kick you out

I was using airbnb system as a host and many people came to my house through airbnb and they liked it also. Very few people had complaining about my place but most was them said it’s great. SO I was developing my place putting a lot of money to fix my facility and effort

BUT!!! one day all of my account has been deleted without any warning.

I called airbnb what happen and they didn’t know what happened also
I was waiting more than 10days, and they give me a feed back that their system doesn’t fit to my house. That was the reason to erase my lists.

My reservation was over 10,000 dollar who were gonna come but they canceled everything.

They don’t know how to care their host. We should get together to against airbnb in order to get our effort back.

I am so pissed off because of the airbnb.

if anyone wants to contact me you guys can contact to this email

dirty apt no help from airbnb

I paid 180 for 7 nights hoping I would save money by not booking a hotel in ibiza and making my own food. When I arrived I realised the place was very dirty…the bathroom looked like it had never been cleaned! I was told I couldn’t cook meat which was no problem but the cooker didn’t work anyway. The cleanliness was the biggest issue so I left and booked into a clean hotel for the same price. I emailed my host and cancelled online only to be insulted by the host called ‘sneaky’ and accused of using tactics against her and that I really just wanted to stay with my friends…ludicrous! DO NOT use Airbnb!!!!

Terrible Airbnb Experience

I think www.airbnb.com is full of property owners who try to make money without paying tax, it is all a scam, or else plenty are breaking rules to sublet their properties. My experience with ww.airbnb.com in Lima was awful.

The first time I stayed at a, Airbnb property in LA, it was wonderful. The host was nice, the property was first class. So, I thought I will do it again when I visited Lima. I actually stayed in the new Lima Hilton Miraflores for the first 2 nights, after travelling through different places in Peru, my other half booked a property in Miraflores, thinking the best way to learn about a country is by living like the local.

Boy did we make a mistake? The property was not big, but it has 3 bedrooms, one double room facing the main street and two twin-bedded room at the back. There are only two of us. The rate was US$110 each night. We walked in, it looked fine. Barely 5 minutes later, the owner’s estate friend rang the doorbell. I only noticed later on that there is a CCTV looking gaget next to the door, though I am not sure it is for show or it is used to monitor house guests. This person does not speak English or French, only Spanish. I noticed that it was quite cool and damp in the place, so I asked for a heater. That is when the trouble starts. The owner was contacted, first she said it is a health and safety concern, then she said she will ask her friend to look for one, but then no one ever come back with one. One has to understand, even though it says 18 degree C, which is 64 F, it could still be chilly, because of the humidities in this country. While we are back and forth by email trying to resolve this issue. The owner sent an email to the www.airbnb.com’s customer service, and sent us a reply saying that heating was not one of the amenities. I was shocked, hot water and bedding are not listed as amenities, but do vacation rental provide them? Because it is such simple run of the mill things travellers expected. So we ended up sleeping in long sleeve T shirts, 5 layers of blankets, because her place does not have any thick blankets.

Then there was not enough hot water to run for a hot bath, there is enough hot water only to run for a luke warm bath. I notified the owner, but nothing was done.

www.airbnb.com’s customer service is despicable, there was no more reply.

A House Manual was only emailed to the house guests after one booked the place, i.e. after you have paid for your accommodation. This particular owner is on the unreasonable side, there are so many rules, and she emphasizes that they have to be followed — Am I living in a boarding school?? Then another ridiculas one is that one person can only do 1 laundry each week!!

Our of the 3 bedrooms, the one with the double bed next to the balcony at the front is very noisy, you can hear all the cars honking and nearby hostels and restaurants’ people coming out late at night…….

I will NEVER USE www.airbnb.com again!

Beware, since all guests are pre-paid, it is unlikely you can back out once you paid. Plus www.airbnb.com was not helpful in resolving issue.
