Airbnb shocked me when they were not the least bit interested in the damage a guest did to my home and the filth they left behind. I have hosted over 55 guests and this was my first nightmare. Not bad, I guess but still I expected Airbnb would have wanted to protect other hosts from the damages this creep caused – but no they could not care less about those of us that make the money for them. They damaged floors, furniture. left lobster carcasses inside to stink up my home and so much more. Don’t rent to this guy if you don’t want major repair and clean-up costs. Maybe Airbnb should hire responsible ADULTS for their customer service vs. kids who have never owned a home, a business, etc. – they don’t get it, but it appears that is what Airbnb wants. They are not accountable.

Guests can scam hosts just by asking airbnb for a refund
I have had more than one experience of guests requesting refunds by claiming that the room was dirty or whatever, yet they stayed there… and then asked for a refund, which Airbnb gave, because that’s what their rules say to do! It’s a scam, and Airbnb doesn’t care about its hosts, after milking them for all those fees.
What about the other side of the coin here
I am an airbnb host. Like in all walks of like I think the majority of people hosts and guests with Airbnb are perfectly reasonable and normal. I go out of my way to make guests welcome, always enjoy having them to stay, and have never had any problems. Reviews tell you about hosts and guests. If in doubt chose a guest/host with several good reviews. I think the whole idea of Airbnb is great. It is a pity that – as usual – the crooks out there wreck the experiences of decent people. I can only commiserate with those of you who have had bad experiences, but there are some fabulous hosts and guests out there. There are Hotels from hell too. Maybe it is a question of luck.
Airbnb guests can get a refund for any reason
I will keep this brief 🙂 This is by no means our 1st experience along these lines. I have finally lost it after airbnb refunded 2 groups of guests. One because the guest didn’t want to stay any longer (no other reason!?) and the second because they claimed our house was”disgusting”!! So rude!! I personally cleaned it with my daughter so know it wasn’t dirty at all. We have had loads of reviews praising us for the high level of cleanliness. The guests claimed to have photos but I never saw them. The next day, I had an email from airbnb saying they had tried to phone but got no reply so they had gone ahead & refunded the guest!? No discussion, no proof. .nothing!? I asked to see the photos. .nothing. And as they have changed their policy nobody but your case officer Pixie will speak to you. .and she seems to have quit work!? So that’s £600+ in 2 days they have STOLEN off us. ..and I can think of no other word to use. ..BEWARE OF AIRBNB!!!
No Payment Received from Airbnb
After a period of 2 months, we are still waiting for our first rental payment owed to us, the homeowner, from Airbnb. We have spent many frustrating hours on the phone and by email, only to be falsely accused of “mis-keying the incorrect banking information”. After requesting proof of payment we have been able to prove to Airbnb there was no error on our part. Airbnb claims they deposited our funds into a non existent financial institution. In our view this is criminal and our fight continues until we get our money. Our advice to owners and rentes, is to STAY AWAY and NOT use Airbnb.
AIRBNB IS GIVING AWAY FREE VACATIONS AND LETTING THE HOST PAY FOR IT An airbnb nightmare & ripoff,
We rented our beach home to a family of four from Atlanta using the airbnb service. Upon their arrival they were a party of four in one SUV, that quickly turned into twelve with the arrival of a van, and then another SUV arrived the next morning, verified by our exterior security camera. I am not sure of the final body count. I contacted them and told them the only people that could stay were the people on the rental agreement. They siad the extra people would leave, they did not leave and they disconnected an exterior security camera. I called airbnb for some help and advice. The person I spoke with was Liem and he said he would call them and try to get the unregistered guests to leave. The next I heard from airbnb was an e-mail from Liem saying that the guest said I had a security camera in the living room and they were refunding all of the guests money. This was an absolute lie and I tried to reach Liem at airbnb but he was not available so I e-mailed and told him to have the guest file a police report. I knew the guest would not be willing to put their lie on a police report. No one responded. I called again but all anyone would do is say they would forward my request to the trip team. I called the guest and told them, by voice mail, if there was a camera in the house they should file a police report, I e-mailed this through airbnb also. I also informed the guest, by voice mail, everyone had to vacate and I was on my way and I would have the police remove them if they were still there when I arrived. When I arrived they were gone but not without doing some minor damage to the house. airbnb will not accept a claim and they refunded all of the guest’s money including the security deposit. I have called back to airbnb trying to resolve this. airbnb has removed the reservation from the site like it never even happened. I can’t leave feedback and I can’t see anything to do with the reservation other than my e-mails. I have asked for a copy of the evidence they used to make their decision and I was told it probably wouldn’t happen. I asked if I sued the guest in small claims court and got a judgment against them would they cover it, all I got was I’ll forward that to the legal department. Still no answers so I called again, or maybe that was the same call, and was informed that the final decision was made in the case and it would not do any good to call because the person answering the phone could not forward my messages to anyone. I asked for a copy of that decision and was told they would send me a copy but it has not arrived. We have decided to take the guest to small claims court, we have a signed rental agreement. It may be a waste of time and money to go to court but it is principal at this point. I have the last two conversations with airbnb recorded. Once I file the small claims case I will post the case number here as it will be public record and anyone should be able to look it up.
AIRBNB Refuses to disclose reason for termination
In the past year I had signed up for using airbnb and had done a very large amount of business with them. ALL transactions were handled in less than 24 hrs, all fees and money handled according to policies and every request airbnb made for any verification, etc was completed in 1-2 business days. ALL feedback was extremely positive from guests. There was no reason for concern whatsoever. Suddenly I noticed that even though my listing was the only one in town my listing would not come up when that town was searched for. Instead the listings from all surrounding towns would show up and my listing would finally come up on about the 3rd or 4th page. I continued to get business so I did not try to address this. Then about a week ago I received an email that I needed to verify my account. So in less than two business days I uploaded my information… They wanted passport or ID and I received a response than my verification was complete. However that same day my account was froze and $4000 of bookings all received cancellation notices from airbnb. They were also told that if they booked with someone else on airbnb they would get an extra 10% refund for staying with airbnb. I can still to this day sign into my account and even message the people that were cancelled however the messages do not get delivered and my listing no longer shows online. After tons of calls to a terrible customer service department one person said Samantha was our airbnb agent and she quit that afternoon. Eventually we were referred to another so called division and Mark and Noah were supposedly working on it and that there were internal troubles that were getting worked out and we would get a response in 24-48 hrs. The 48hrs lapsed and not one contact was made to me. So I started calling again. This time I was told my account was terminated and was given false dates of emails that were supposedly sent but they do not line up chronologically with the sequence of events. I insisted that I be given a reason for termination and airbnb refused to give any explanation. They kept saying you have been terminated and we are no longer going to talk to you. I demanded to talk to a supervisor and was again told “no, your account has been terminated”. I was also given the game of if getting too pushy they put you on hold for a few minutes and then come back, and if you get pushy again they do it again… This is a new trick all customer service departments are turning to. Gone are the days of a company giving any credence to good customer service. I have one guest who stayed the weekend while things were transpiring and airbnb is holding their money and will not release it to me because they say they terminated my account… which according to them did not happen until 5 days later… I have managed to contact some of my cancelled bookings and they are extremely grateful for my efforts and they will never use airbnb again. Some of them use other sites and will not use airbnb again. Ironically a fellow host had an independent review agent who reviews several of these sites stay at their property and is disgusted with what happened. That person is going to try to at least get to the bottom of things. Hopefully that will help get the word out. This has apparently been happening for years with airbnb and one may wonder, with the other legal troubles they are having, what is really going on. My advice is RUN FROM AIRBNB AND TELL EVERYONE!!! This needs to be made known. If there are any efforts to pull together support to do something about this PLEASE let me know. I had a very upstanding cleanly ran relationship going and was terminated with no reason given. Dont think for a minute it had anything to do with the “video verification” they are pushing. Are they steering business? Was I too successful and they shut me down to play favortism? I have no idea, but I know other host accounts that are getting extremely uncomfortable with airbnb and will soon be leaving. That is one way to resolve this… Air their dirty laundry HEAVILY and leave them squandering in their legal issues they are already struggling with.
What?!?!
I think this entire site is BS. I was hosting a few german people in my home during the the world cup. They got a little out of hand broke my 70 tv vomited on my freshly shampooed carpet. Airbnb with in a week deposited money into my account, I showed them the receipt for the shampooing i did the day before they arrived and showed sent them pictures of my TV and bam that was it. No making my life a living hell no submitting receipts for something ive owned for 8 years etc. So I cal BS on this entire site run by an Airbnb competitor.

Do NOT be TOO trusting while being a HOST
MAN and woman stayed overnight. They left early next day. Man came back, said he forgot something. went up to his room , brought down a Firearm ! Do not be TOO trusting. female Dr comes in 10am one morning. I actually made her breakfast..Her room was beautiful 25 x 36, Brass King Bed /2 couches. tv, desk. The night before she was couch surfing to save money, Her room at my place was $59.00! She gave me a bad review because the garbage can was not empty. She is starting a business where she calls old people on the phone to talk and bill their insurance companies. She claims this would prevent dementia. But she did not know what Vinpocetine, or DMAE is. Maybe she is really a vet.
