Airbnb disabled the account of a disabled Veteran traveling in Brasil. This has interfered with my travel plans. This has also made it impossible for me to respond to disputes with my hosts.

Nightmarish old guests
Horrible guests. Had a 100% perfect record until a bunch of old people came to our old apartment in NYC and they started tearing it apart, even stole our keys. We renting it out for only $40 a night and never misinterpreted anything- we took actual pictures of apartment and the moment they came in they called our house STINKY. Horrible people- glad we kicked them out despite their age. They called the cops on us coz they lost their keys only to find it in the old hag’s purse, then they stole it after we finally kicked them out. Worst 3 days of my Airbnb hosting life, stopped hosting after that.
Scammed By AirBNB Host
I cannot recommend these apartments and this host. Our experience was very bad. I had told the contact person several times when I would be arriving. Upon arrival I was told it would be 2 hours before it was ready. The first weekend was extremely noisy and disturbing. There was very loud yelling and cussing in the middle of the night for at least 2 hours straight from a close unit. Then some people were arguing and yelling outside our door very early the same morning. I usually don’t wake up easy but these people have problems. My wife was very upset! The next night was almost as bad. Parking was also a serious problem. Before our stay I asked the host about the parking situation at the apt. She said that usually there is parking available directly in front of the complex to the west. If there were no places available I could park in any open places on the streets away from the direction of the beach. The first 3 nights I had to park 6 to 7 blocks away and walk to the complex.
Where’s the refund? No help from Airbnb!
I have been trying to get a refund for a canceled stay overseas. The host agreed to refund but my bank account was closed when I moved cross country and airbnb said it had to go to closed account. An airbnb employee gave me incorrect info and the host reduced the amount of refund because she thought I accused her of lying about the location of the funds. Airbnb has has been EXTREMELY difficult to contact and now lists a password to a pdf file for my refund info but there is NO PLACE to plug this password into, no location for the file, no way to respond to this latest email that doesn’t just go to an automated choice of subjects- like being stuck on an automated phone answering system that doesn’t include the title of person or number you seek. NEVER AGAIN.
Airbnb failed to pay over $4000 in cleaning fees
Hi, I have been a host since the first year of airbnb. It has been a positive experience.. until this discovery. The original info sheet from airbnb is not translatable(,so I suspect many have not discovered this.) My friend, a fellow host created a spread sheet for me on last years payouts. Both my friend and I discovered numerous bookings where airbnb failed to collect cleaning fee.. for me a total of $4000. My friend had only a fee, much rarer hosting, and she settled w/ airbnb for half of them as airbnb was so difficult to deal with. I am not willing to do that. I have been trying to find someone at airbnb who is in charge of payouts. I want someone higher up. does anyone know who that would be? Thanks, Joyce Garrity host of the orange house, the down home, urban cottage, seattle
Sorry, we have no rooms available but we’ll take your money anyway
I tried to make a reservation on Airbnb and the host’s reply was “sorry, not available those dates”. But when I look at my bank account I see an “authorisation” for the amount of the reservation, which was 140€ as the reservation was for 7 days. Supposedly I will eventually get the money back but right now my available bank balance is down 140€ for the reply “sorry, not available”. What happens if I don’t have more money in my account to pay another place to stay? What if that was all the money I had to pay for my stay? Why are they doing taking my money if the reply is no? This really pisses me off and it will make me avoid airbnb in the future because, although I think the hosts are good people, the company is obviously run by greedy, unscrupulous crooks. What hotel charges your card if they have no rooms available, leaving you without enough to go to find another place and then tells you “don’t worry, you’ll get it back within 7-31 days depending on your bank etc etc”.
Airbnb now ring fences money on pending reservations
I used to use airbnb a couple of years or so back. I am sure they have changed the way they now treat pending reservations. Correct me if I am wrong – you used to be able to send out multiple reservation requests – someone would accept your request and then you would pay. No problem. Now I have recently started using airbnb again and it seems you make a reservation and it automatically becomes a pending reservation and your money is ring fenced out of your bank account. For example I am trying to book somewhere for 3 days time in London maybe at a cost of £600ish for the week. I have one pending request outstanding and they have not yet accepted. The profile says within 24 hours so as it stands they have 8 hours and counting. If they don’t accept by tomorrow I may have to make 2 additional requests to ensure booking. This will mean £1200 ring fenced for (as airbnb states) what can be up to 5 days! I preferred the old booking procedure for obvious reasons.
airbnb has blocked our accounts
We are an apartments rental company with 5 buildings of apartments in property and management. We have several airbnb accounts (one for each building). The account details and bank details are the same for all the buildings. We reply to messages and change prices with the same computer located in our booking department. Unexpectedly, airbnb has blocked the accounts for “technical reasons”. Could help me explain what has happened? Thank you very much in advance. Joaquim
Ivan Vilches Quero – Liar, Cheater, and Hustler
On Monday, March 16, Ivan Vilches Quero and his wife came to my apartment in midtown Manhattan. He looked around at the space, over 500sq ft two blocks from Grand Central Station. Expensive location, renovated apartment, in an elevator building. They stuck around for 20m asking me questions about NYC, and the apartment. The cleaning crew had just left, and I needed some time to prepare fresh towels and clean sheets. He left their luggage, took my key, and said he would be back in half an hour. Less than an hour later, he writes to me on whatsapp. He doesn’t write to me on airbnb. He claims the apartment is dirty, that the windows are not clear, and he asks me to come back to the apartment. The next day Airbnb approves their cancellation. They refused to return my keys for 3 days and 2 nights, occupied my apartment, opened their luggage, left dirty dishes in my apartment, and slept in the bed. This man is a liar and cheater, HOSTS BEWARE of IVAN VILCHES QUERO of Seville, Spain
AIRBNB FACES GENTRIFICATION SO I DECIDED TO QUIT HOSTING
Years have passed since that Winter I discovered the AirBnB revolution of happy people sharing homes. I’ve seen hundreds of AirBnB guests, and now, they really sound different, sometimes really annoying, making you feel like your appartment is a Deluxe hotel for 40$/night. Expectations increased for lowered prices, as the platform became really popular. But the whole point of AirbBnB wasn’t business at all. It was meant for home sharing. We may even have contributed to make AirBnB more commercial, as hosts. But popularity killed the simplicity in the end…. http://michaelgiguere.com/2015/03/never-airbnb-again/
