I just received this cryptic email from Airbnb:
“We’ve determined that your account is affiliated with someone not permitted to be on Airbnb. The types of affiliations we consider to make this determination include things like your location and the email address associated with your Airbnb account. As a result, we have removed your account from Airbnb and you will be unable to use the platform in the future. To protect the privacy of the Airbnb community, we can not provide details about this user’s account eligibility.”
So a phantom is magically associated with me that disqualifies me from the platform. I have paid all fees and have had compliments from hosts for the business given by me and my family members. We have booked multiple times and never left a negative review. No complaints from any host or from Airbnb. Suddenly… complete suspension.
What is this? I suspect it is politically motivated, given the timing of the suspension.
I just got this yesterday too. Had superhost when I was hosting before the pandemic and recently used the services as a guest. It feels very Kafkaesque and makes no sense. Also they take the piss with their email saying “we appreciate your understanding.” Really? Because nothing has been explained.
this same message was sent to me after 10 years of being a super host “that I am affiliated with someone un-permitted to be on airbnb”. I have a clean & perfect background and am a women owned business. They said their decision was final and I heard you can appeal to but my account has been blocked. I had a airbnb executive stay at my home and said it was one of the best she’s stayed at and SHOULD be on airbnb. She gave me this number to contact and I actually had someone answer and email me 844-234-2500 . The other times I have called no one would return back to me. I am still in the early stages but it’s a start but I won’t hold my breath. Apparently this is common now to be super host and just get shut down with no explanation it’s a way for them to be vague enough bc at the end of the day they don’t owe you an explanation. I would always recommend using other platforms and always finding other ways airbnb is good while you have it but someone in another country can just decide you are not “Safe” n shut down your entire livelihood. This is a new thing for the past year and it’s only getting started.
Interesting. I just got my account shut down by some manager with no reason. When I call in all they can say is it is locked by a manager named Dan.
The offer an appeal, but I can’t log on to appeal AND I have no idea what I am appealing.
I have a stellar reputation and book quite often. I can’t say that I am a Democrat though. Maybe that is the reason. Seems to be the popular thing to do now a day, to cancel because of political association.
